MSTS research committee agenda/goals 2004

  1. Begin MSTS sponsored multi-center trials
  2. Get commitment from MSTS for defined level of funding for research
    1. Exec committee response: Depends upon budget after July 2004 mtg
    2. ? applying to Sarcoma Foundation or MTF for funding infrastructure
  3. Put study idea template on website.
  4. Issue RFP to members for research proposals.
    1. Announce at MSTS AAOS specialty day
    2. Research committee to review study ideas submitted in conf calls and do workshop at July 2004 meeting
  5. Establish approval process for research ideas (evaluation template).
    1. Submit study idea template to research committee
    2. Research committee evaluates and scores on value of hypothesis, feasibility and cost
    3. If research comm response is favorable, committee forwards to exec committee for funding approval
    4. PI identified
    5. Study committee formed
    6. Final protocol and budget established
  6. Provide infrastructure for clinical data gathering
    1. Biostats
    2. Hypothesis generation
    3. Feasibility
  7. Communicate both MSTS sponsored and individually/locally
  8. sponsored clinical protocols to all members via website, email newsletter, regular podium report at semi-annual mtgs.
  9. Establish a “for patients” section on website to provide information on clinical trials
  10. Improve visibility of “for patients” section via web-links with cancer centers, institutions, and sarcoma support groups
  11. Investigate possibility of participation in NCI’s central IRB concept (doubt this is open to non NCI sponsored trials?)
