MSTS and Dr. Kurt Weiss, Chair of the Research Committee would like to announce and congratulate the novel Sarcoma Strong Grant awardees of this year.
The Sarcoma Strong Research Grant ($50,000) was awarded to Dr. Julia Visgauss at Duke University for her application titled: Investigating the Role of LCP1 In Metastatic Progression of Chondrosarcoma.
The Sarcoma Strong Mentored Research Award ($25,000) was awarded to Dr. Steven Thorpe at UC Davis for his application titled: Interrogating the Downstream Effects of Macrophage Polarization in the Osteosarcoma Tumor Microenvironment on Alveolar Resident Tissue Macrophages. Dr. Thorpe will be mentored by Dr. Kent Leach.
MSTS would like to remind our members that the OREF is offering a $25,000 grant for research dealing with metastatic disease and/or pathological fractures. Applications are due June 15 and details can be found on the OREF website: https://www.oref.org
