Our two Invited Scholars are Dr. Brian Snyder and Dr. Evanthia Galanis. Both are not only distinguished scholars but also dedicated mentors, each leading robust, NIH-funded research programs.
Dr. Evanthia Galanis is an internationally recognized expert in neuro-oncology and a clinician-investigator with a long-standing interest in developing novel therapeutic approaches for cancer. Her practice-changing clinical research includes multiple national phase 2 and randomized phase 2/3 clinical trials of novel therapeutics for primary brain tumors and brain metastases. These trials include some of the first individualized medicine trials in neuro-oncology through the North Central Cancer Treatment Group and the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. Furthermore, Dr. Galanis' research laboratory is actively developing and optimizing novel immunovirotherapy treatment approaches.
Dr. Brian Snyder is the Maurice Edmond Mueller Distinguished Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Under his leadership, his multidisciplinary team brings together experts in orthopaedics, biomedical engineering, imaging science, and computational modeling to improve musculoskeletal care. Their research uses advanced imaging methods—such as contrast-enhanced CT and Raman spectroscopy—to yield detailed views of cartilage and bone quality. By combining non-invasive diagnostic techniques with computer models, like CT-based structural rigidity analysis, they offer clear, repeatable assessments of fracture risk and tissue strength.
