Grant Recipients Announced

MSTS and the Research Committee, led by Chair Dr. Bang Hoang, are pleased to congratulate the following recipients:

 The 2025 Benign Musculoskeletal Tumor Research Award ($25,000) was received by: 

  • Dr. Christopher D. Hamad of UCLA for his research titled: Biomarkers of Non-Response to CSF1R Inhibitors in Tenosynovial Giant Cell Tumor

 The 2025 Bone Metastasis Research Award ($25,000) was received by: 

  • Dr. Meredith Bartelstein of Memorial Sloan Kettering Institute for Cancer Research for her research titled: Activity Monitors to Measure Perioperative Function in Bone Metastasis

 The 2025 Sarcoma Strong Mentored Research Award ($25,000) was received by: 

  • Dr. Shalin Patel of MD Anderson Cancer Center for his research titled: Financial Toxicity in Patients with Localized Primary Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcomas

 The 2025 Sarcoma Strong Research Grant Award ($50,000) was received by: 

  • Dr. Sean Kelly of Tripler Army Medical Center for his research titled: In Vitro Comparison of RANKL and Sclerostin Inhibition in Patient Derived Cell-line Models of Giant Cell Tumor of Bone

In 2024, the Sarcoma Strong Career Catalyst Award ($100,000 over a two-year period) was received by: 

  • Dr. Julia Visgauss, of Duke University for her research titled: Investigating drivers and therapeutic approaches for LCP1 overexpression in chondrosarcoma 

 The 2024 Sarcoma Strong Mentored Research Award ($25,000) was received by: 

  • Dr. Zachary Burke of Cleveland Clinic for his research titled: Clonal Profiling of MAP resistant osteosarcoma to inform evolutionarily guided treatment strategies
