Goal 1: Education

To be the leaders in advancing musculoskeletal oncology education.

  • Objective 1: Enhance MSTS’s educational content by integrating emerging clinical topics and ensuring programming remains current and relevant to practice.
  • Objective 2: Expand hands-on and skills-based training opportunities to strengthen clinical competency across the membership.
  • Objective 3: Strengthen educational partnerships and program alignment to support high-quality, sustainable MSTS educational offerings.

Goal 2: Research

To be the authoritative society in musculoskeletal tumor research by driving collaborative, impactful, and innovative science.

  • Objective 1: Strengthen and expand the MSTS registry to support high-quality multi-institutional research.
  • Objective 2: Broaden the research portfolio to include benign, metastatic, and understudied musculoskeletal tumor conditions.
  • Objective 3: Increase collaborative research across institutions and disciplines to advance scientific impact.
  • Objective 4: Improve Dissemination and Translation of Research Into Clinical Practice.
  • Objective 5: Develop and support the next generation of surgeon-scientists in musculoskeletal oncology

Goal 3: Membership

Strengthen membership by increasing value and engagement.

  • Objective 1: Improve onboarding and early engagement so new members understand how to participate and connect within MSTS.
  • Objective 2: Strengthen member connection and community within MSTS.
  • Objective 3: Advance equity, inclusion, and access across the MSTS member experience.
  • Objective 4: Enhance member feedback processes and strengthen committee participation expectations.

Goal 4: Advocacy

Engage MSTS members in meaningful advocacy and establish MSTS as the trusted voice for musculoskeletal oncology in healthcare policy.

  • Objective 1: Build the infrastructure necessary for coordinated and effective MSTS advocacy efforts.
  • Objective 2: Strengthen partnerships with aligned organizations to increase the Society’s advocacy impact.
  • Objective 3: Increase visibility and communication of MSTS advocacy activities to the membership.
  • Objective 4: Establish a clear process for determining, evaluating, and approving MSTS policy positions.

 Goal 5: Organizational Structure, Governance, and Operations (internal)

Strengthen MSTS’s operational capacity, governance clarity, and infrastructure to support society growth and strategic priorities. 

  • Objective 1: Align staffing and operational capacity with MSTS’s programmatic needs and growth.
  • Objective 2: Clarify committee roles, scopes, and expectations to strengthen governance effectiveness.
  • Objective 3: Improve internal communication and meeting processes to support strategic alignment and operational efficiency.
